The home page, or home, is our showcase to the public on the Internet. Someone who comes to our online business, just for a first impression, can decide to go directly to look for the products we also sell on another website or to stay in our store to see our offers.
To plan our home page (the main page) in an online store, we must ask ourselves: what we do as buyers, like to see on the home page of the electronic stores where we buy? Why do we buy from them?
That must be our first approach. The second will be: what do our competitors do? It is interesting to consult both the pages of our real competitors as well as those of the great online sellers, even though they sell products that have nothing to do with ours, to pay attention, above all, to their appearance and style and how they work for us.
Guiding the purchase through their website, how do they get us to end up buying, even when we have reached their website without being fully convinced that we needed that product?
After analyzing what we liked the most, both for its appearance and for the user experience (ease of purchase, usability, not finding obstacles on the way until the purchase is made) in these online stores, we will prepare a list, in order of importance and is very realistic, of the actions that we can carry out to get closer to that online store home model that we have devised.
The essential thing that we must include in the home of our e-commerce is always: some type of direct contact for our clients (our e-mail or contact telephone number), some guarantee of our operation (such as a security seal, customer testimonials, etc.) and, of course, our products.
It is essential that potential buyers see from the home page the products they can buy on our site, the offers, the quality, and the variety if not, they can go and look for them in another store.
