Choosing the product is a key factor in e-commerce because only choosing the right thing to sell will achieve a successful business. It has to be something with a good target market, but not too much competition, or at least if there is competition, knowing how to differentiate yourself from it. It shouldn't be too expensive, or at least it should have a good markup on what customers can pay for it.
First, you have to choose the sector in which you want to enter. It must be a sector that is known. And the product, preferably, should also be a product that is perfectly known, although if not, the person can be trained to know it to the fullest.
There are those who prefer to make a store with a single product because this way, it is easier to manage. Still, others know that they will sell more if they offer a good variety of products, and others start small and update the catalog as the business progresses.
You have to think about what can be sold and where you can get products of sufficient quality at a good price, products with which to earn money with an online store. But also, you have to think about its characteristics: they have a specific target market, they are used in certain seasons of the year or times, what their life cycle is, there are special permits to sell it. Know everything about the product also to see if you are interested in selling it or if you have to do something special for it.
Of course, it must be something that motivates the sale in what is believed. I'm not going to sell encyclopedias if I think they are useless, right? And I am going to sell encyclopedias if I think that they are the best invention that man has created. Believe in your product because if you don't, nobody else will.
Think about the after-sales service, and keep that in mind when choosing the product. Do you want something exclusive, something branded, something very cheap, something that satisfies a need that you had until then?
Think about what you want from the product and think about how you are going to approach your business. Create a good business plan that guides you through determining if it is profitable and if that is what you want for your online store.
