Fact 1 - It is a fact about Indonesia that initially recognized it worldwide. The Indonesian archipelago is an assortment of over 17000 islands, of which only one third is inhabited. You would be surprised to know that most of them are still not named. The islands of Indonesia are spread over a combined area of over 5000 kilometers.


Fact 2 - Situated at the top where two massive tectonic plates meet, Indonesia is a center of seismic and tectonic activity, giving rise to one of Indonesia most defined geological features - Volcano. Indonesia is home to around 400 smoldering volcanoes, of which 127 are still active.

Fact 3 - This is one of those facts about Indonesia that surprises most people. Islam is the predominant religion in Indonesia. However, faith varies from island to island. For instance, Bali is mostly inhabited by Hindus, while some islands have a majority of Christians.

Fact 4 - Bahasa Indonesia is the national language of Indonesia. Bahasa Indonesia has more than 700 different dialects that can be heard on different islands of the country. The national language is similar to Bahau Malay because it was adopted by the national leaders of the Malay language.

Fact 5 - The country is home to a cat-like mammal, known as the Asian Palm Civet. Coffee berries are fed to these civets, whose feces are collected to extract Kopi Luwak coffee beans. Interestingly, these are the most expensive coffee beans in the world.
