About Har Ki Dun- Har Ki Dun is situated in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. Duns are usually valleys that are formed between two mountains. Many valleys can be found between Himalayan ranges and Har Ki Dun is one of them. One can see here vast meadows covered with alpine and wildflowers below Swaragrohini 1 peak. The ancient villages- The villages we can see here are more than 3,000 years old like Gangaad, Osla, and Seems. Still, they are holding their own culture, food habit, and dressing tradition. It seems as if the outer world hasn't touched these villages. They still wear woolen handmade clothes, grow food on fields and worship their own deities.
River Thamas And Mountain Views- This river is originated in Har Ki Dun and flows all over the valley. From Maninda Tal and Ruinsara Tal, ice melts and the water comes together to form the river Thamas. The gurgling river is a treat to the eyes. Different mountain peaks can be seen from this valley. It is the only place where one can witness Swargarohini I, II, III, Black Peak, and Bandarpoonch, all together.
Myths and legends- A legend is related to this valley that establishes its immortal beauty. People say that Pandavas visited this valley to climb Swargarohini peak which may lead them to heaven. This myth about Pandavas signifies its unique beauty.
Devsu Thatch- It is considered as the most favourite section of the trek. Har Ki Doon winter trek is incomplete if trekkers do not visit this place. This valley is surrounded by dense forests. There are different levels of Devsu thatch which offer different horizontal views.
