People are often reluctant to start an eCommerce business for the fear of failing. There are hundreds of eCommerce websites which start, invest a lot of money and finally stop their business. Though one of the most popular forms of businesses, eCommerce businesses fail due to a number of reasons. Many of these reasons can be easily managed with a bit of planning. In case you are interested in starting an eCommerce business, here are some reasons to be aware of.

One of the main reasons why eCommerce businesses fail is losing the trust of the customers. Several eCommerce websites which have failed have been found to neglect the checkout process. Their checkout process is complicated or time-consuming. It is essential to ensure the checkout process is straightforward and painless. Your customers should not feel hassled when using your website.

There are many websites which have no alignment with pricing and ads. Customers during the checkout process found that postage charges were almost one third of the price of the product. Besides, the ads might have offered a discount but in reality, the product did not offer any discount or there were conditions which need to be fulfilled to get the discount.

It is necessary to meet the expectations of the customers. Hidden fees are one the top reasons why carts are abandoned. It is crucial what the buyer sees. Thus, never add unexpected costs till the last minute. You will come across many cheap shipping calculators or widgets, so if you add these in your store, it will help your customers in estimating the cost.

You should have a clear return policy. If you do not have any return policy, it is not going to help your website. No one will buy from your store, if they are not able to get the return policy details easily on the site, they are not going to come back. When the return policy is easy and convenient, it will help customers return a product.

You need to ensure that your website is mobile friendly. If you do not have a mobile responsive e-commerce store, several mobile users who would use their mobile devices to purchase products, will not come to your website. This is another reason why many eCommerce stores fail.

Last, but not the least, you need to promote your online store on different social media channels. Unless your site gets the right traffic, how will you make money?
