Imagine a situation when you visit a store and you absolutely adore a dress. You get the feeling that you will look amazing when you dress up in that dress. It is just the perfect combination of color, design, and comfort. But then you realize that its color might bleed. In just a few washes it might fade and no longer look as it is now. What do you do in such a situation? Well do not feel lost, if you love a dress.
There are a few tips which can help in preventing clothes from fading and can help in holding its color. For all clothes which have label, warning of color bleeding or fading, it s an indication that you need to take good care of the material so that it does not fade. So, the first step is to wash the clothing with cold water. Hot water is never recommended as it opens the fibers of the fabric. It causes the dye to escape and run. In case you are living in quite a cold area, the winter tends to become chilled in winter. In such a situation, you can set the washer to a warm temperature at 30 degrees C. You should use a detergent which is suitable for cold water.
There is often a friction during the wash cycle. This can lead to micro-breakage of the fibers. It can cause the release of dye. Thus, it is one of those times when we notice that the fabric is fading with time. The friction can be easily minimized when heavy items are washed together. You should also fasten all hooks and zippers. Turn your clothes inside out which is quite effective especially in case of jeans.
If you are washing clothes which tend to fade quite fast, you need to use a shorter wash cycle. You can also use a gentle cycle which helps in reducing the friction. This will prevent the colors from running out and will save your clothes from ruin.
We often choose to dry our clothes outside for that natural drying. If you choose to do this, ensure that you remove the clothes within a few hours. Do not let the strong sunlight fade away the color. Over exposure to sunlight can be quite damaging for clothes especially cotton clothes. You can dry your clothes in any shaded place. It will get the warmth and required dryness but it will not fade the clothes.
