Blog : Review of Movie Malang Starring Anil Kapur and Disha Patani

Malang is a Bollywood revenge drama directed by Mohit Suri. The story of the movie was written by Aseem Arora, Aniruddha Guha and Mohit Suri. Actors Anil Kapur, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Disha Patani, Kunal Khemu, Amrita Khanvilkar acted as the main characters. The entire movie was shot at Varanasi and Shimla.

Aditya Roy Kapur played the role of Advait Thakur. He has been released from jail after five years. The role of inspector Anjaney Agashe is a rugged drug-addicted cop who kills known criminals in a way that they looked like as if they have been killed in an encounter. Most of the cinema is in a flashback. The actual story starts five years back where Sara Disha Patani met Advait, a cheerful happy go lucky guy at a night club in Goa. Their love started at first sight because both of them were adventurous by nature.

They decided to spend life together as most of their likes and dislikes are the same. However, their adventurous life soon crashed when they fell victim to an unfortunate incident. Advait was sent to jail for five years and Sara was believed to be murdered. After five years Advait was released from the jail. Sara also returned as she was not murdered. One of her friends saved her life. After many ups and downs and various murders at the end of the cinema, Sara and Advait reunited and started a peaceful new life. At the end of the film, there is a hint that a sequel to the film is coming soon.

The film was a big flop. But it was great entertainment with lots of dance, songs, murders and thrilling moments. It is an entertaining product of those who love slasher flics. The director stitched the plots well but the characters are not normal. There is not much scope of acting of the two lead characters. The acting of Anil Kapur at this age needs to get applauded. Kunal Khemu tried his best to portray his character. A little more care in the writing would have turned the movie into a better product.

Audiences were not quite happy with the storyline which they found to be quite loose. They did not enjoy the music or the sound track. A little more engaging storyline could have changed the fate of the movie to a large extent.
