Bollywood is famous for its romantic films along with romantic songs. Bollywood romantic film has its unique quality that s why it has become so popular all over the world. Romantic films never go out of interest and that is why romantic films most of the time becomes box office hit. Bollywood has a long and strong history of a romantic film. Thousands of romantic films have been made in Bollywood so far. Among which it is really hard to choose only three Bollywood films.

Mughal-E-Azam- This film was about 16th-century prince who falls in love with a court dancer and battles with his emperor father. The prince is nothing but Salim and the emperor was Akbar. The court dancer was Nadira whom Akbar himself named as Anarkali because of her tremendous beauty. It was an unsuccessful love relation between Salim and Anarkali. In the end, Anarkali sacrificed her life to save Salim from the grudge of his father. The film was directed by K. Asif and was released in 1960. Legendary actors like Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, and several other stars acted in this film.


Guide- This is another very romantic film based on the story The Guide by famous author R.K. Narayan. Waheeda Rehman and Dev Ananda played the main characters in the film. It was released in 1965 and was a box office heat. The film was directed by Vijay Anand. The film is also famous for its memorable music, which are popular even today. The film became so popular that it has an English version also written by Pearl S. Buck. It was screened at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival 42 years after release.

The third romantic film of Bollywood, that became very popular was Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The film was directed by Aditya Chopra and was produced by his father Yash Chopra. The film became box office heat immediately after its release on 20th October 1995. The hero and the heroine of this film were Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol respectively. The shooting of the film was done not only in India, but also in two foreign countries like London and Switzerland. The story writer was Aditya Chopra himself and Jatin Lalit gave the music. The film won ten Filmfare awards including the prestigious National Film Award for best popular film.
