Manikarnika is a 2016 period-drama film, produced under Zee Studios and Kairos Kontent Studios production banners. Directed by the winner of the National Film Award, Nandi Award, and Filmfare Award- Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and the actress Kangana Ranaut as well.

The film starred Kangana Ranaut, Atul Kulkarni, Jisshu Sengupta, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Ankita Lokhande in the lead roles. The film was written by Prasoon Joshi, produced by Zee Studios, Kamal Jain, and Nishant Pitti, and cinematography by Kiran Deohans and Gnana Shekar V. S.

The story is about Rani Lakshmibai-one of the best personalities of the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Manikarnika born in Varanasi. When Dixit, a consul in Jhansi notices her. He advises her wedding with Gangadhar Rao, the ruler of Jhansi. Sadashiv Rao plans along with British officers to succeed Jhansi as he is assured a post in it after winning Jhansi.

After the birth of Lakshmis child, when the naming ceremony was continuing Sadashiv Rao poison the holy water by which her son died and also drops Gangadhar Rao on death sack. Gangadhar Rao than decides to adopt a child. That time Sadashiv Rao feels deprived of not adopting his son instead of a toddler who comes bounding to Lakshmi Bai.
