Lake Ontario is one the 5 great lakes of North America which is located partially in Canada and a part of it is in the United States. The Northern part of it is surrounded by the province of Canada, Ontario and the southern side is surrounded by the state of New York. The word Ontario means lake of shining water and the Canadian province surrounding it was also named after Lake Ontario.

Lake Ontario is the 14th most largest lake in the world and holds about 21-15- of the worlds fresh water. The lake never completely freezes due to the depth of it although its surface froze in the past at least 5 times the last time being in 1934.
